SheZow coming to Biggs

You've heard it here: SheZow, the Australian cartoon that accuses their viewers of promoting transvestism and swapping genders in less than one minute (as the picture of Guy and his alter-ego, SheZow, illustrates) will premiere on July 5th on Biggs.
It only premiered now in order to catch all those discussions on Conchita Wurst and other men who have female alter-egos.

Weird glitch on Canal Panda (17/06/2014)

Before today's single showing of Doraemon (at 14:00), the NEXT bumper for Dinosaur Train appeared.
They need to be more cautious on the bumpers they air.

Disney Channel Portugal rebranded today

After much speculation, Disney Channel Portugal FINALLY rebranded from the smartphone app logo to the new German one introduced in January.
You already know what it looks like...

ZAP Brinca premieres Nickelodeon shows

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, ZAP Brinca is a 90-minute long programming block airing on ZAP Viva, an entertainment channel owned by Angolan TV provider ZAP. It is hosted by Alice Berenguel, who is known to dress up constantly every time the show airs. It airs on weekends at 08:30 (09:30 for viewers in Mozambique).

When the block first started six months ago, it had Dragon Flyz, Dinofroz, Sky Dancers and that new Gormiti show with a "so bad, it's good" theme song. This is all about to change.
Starting next Saturday, June 21st, the block will add The Fairly OddParents and Kung-Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness to the block. After the block, and since April, they've been airing True Jackson, VP, but I'm 100% sure that they're airing the European Portuguese dub, the same is true to those shows.
Also, what's worth noticing is that neither DSTV nor ZAP carry Nickelodeon Portugal. DSTV carries MTV Portugal while ZAP carries MTV India and MTV Base.

Disney Channel Portugal: the new look is imminent

Last Thursday, SIC (and Disney Channel) aired an ad for a Violetta DVD that will be released next Sunday:
Now they're airing a promo for their summer block:
Like DC USA and IT before the rebrand, they decided to hide the new logo for unknown reasons. Maybe because they're shy of the rebrand?
Estimated launch date of the new look: June 16th.

New show on DC PT: Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja

Nine months after the surprise premiere on SIC's Disney Kids block, it has been announced that Disney Channel Portugal will premiere Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja. The Disney XD show will air at more accessible time slots once it will premiere, probably in July.
Are these signs of time? Will DXD PT launch in September? We'll just have to find out.

New show on Cartoon City: Ori-Princess

CCTV 4's Cartoon City block has replaced a show featuring ball-shaped characters with a new show. another show that escalates the whole "anime's little brother" feel to extreme levels, and a girly one as well. I'm talking about Ori-Princess:

I don't understand the storyline of this, but it's bascially a princess called Ori (yes, Ori) who lives in medieval China and has the stereotype of a typical modern anime girl. I don't know when did CCTV 4 premiere it, and the show has 52 episodes (2 episodes/day = 26 days) but they don't show the episode number in it, so I can't calculate the premiere date for Ori-Princess. I only knew it yesterday from CCTV 4 Europe's official stream.
And speaking of Cartoon City...

A few suggestions for CN PT

(or "five reasons why CN PT is sub-par compared to CN HQ")
1: Improve the website. CN PT's website is using the Latin American design, which is weird, considering that we're in Europe.
2: Improve the schedule. They have not a lot of variety, partly because they're only dependent on shows that were already dubbed. They're now focusing more on modern shows because it developed very fast and will soon turn into the CN USA of Europe.
3: Convert all 4:3 shows to 16:9. A few CNs in Europe already do that.
4: Change the announcers, they all sound awful.
5: Redub all shows, they all sound awful.

Turner talks about Cartoon Network's success in Portugal

Last Thursday, a conference was held on Lisbon's Hotel Fonte Nova about Cartoon Network Portugal's rapid success, six months after the switch from CN HQ. One of the problems solved by all TV providers was the English audio track (even though I prefer CN HQ more than that).
At the beginning of the conference, some good news for the channel: an increase in 500%, thus becoming the fourth most-watched kids channel in the country, six months after the channel's localization.
New shows have been confirmed: Clarence will premiere on CN PT in 2015 (why not September?), the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Teen Titans GO! (which CN HQ premiered in February).
Other things of note include the launch of an HD channel and a talent show for Portuguese audiences.
