Me, Myself and Phineas: a long essay on what was once the best animated series ever

Last Thursday, when I came home from school, I was confronted with news that shocked me: Phineas and Ferb was finally cancelled.
I received the news with mixed results, which will be explained later.
Anyway, Phineas and Ferb premiered on all Disney Channels in 2008. I didn't know about the show at the time, partly because I didn't have access to Disney Channel at the time.
I did not know what it was until, if memory serves, 2009.
I was channel surfing and landed on Disney Channel. Phineas and Ferb was on, but I catched a B-plot. Don't know what episode it was. It was in the middle of the summer.
I wanted to check more info on it on the internet, but it was still unconvincing to my person.
Then during fall, I catched some episodes by off-chance. It still did not convince me.
In late 2009, we had clocks to make as a project. My project was a musical clock that played a recording of the Portuguese version of Gitchee Gitchee Goo. It never went forward.
In 2010, I kept watching episodes as an off-chance. On Easter Sunday I watched the airplane episode, but that show did not convince me. By November, I caught a repeat of the second half of Summer Belongs to You!, and it was still background noise to me.
Anyway, April 2011 and my TV viewing was primarily Boomerang, CN HQ and Nickelodeon. All of a sudden, the Disney Kids block on SIC caught my attention. They were airing the season 2 episode "Let's Take a Quiz". What catched me up was the Devors jingle at the near end of the episode:

(Só os encontras na Devors, esta é a melhor loja de chinelos!)
I once tried to adopt the word "tralfazz" as my personal favorite, but it never catched on after a week. OK, está bem, tralfazz.

But back in the day, Phineas and Ferb became my favorite show. I don't know what exactly catapulted me into the world of a step-family, ethnically diverse characters and a platypus whose head and beak changed place as Perry put on his fedora and went to end up spoiling the plans of Dr. Doofenshmirtz which eventually spoiled the plans of the step-brothers.
I was 13 back then. I started to like the songs it had and watched every showing of it like if my life depended on it.
I started to know the Agent P song - in Portuguese and English - by heart. That expanded to the theme song, where I listened to various international versions of it - not just Portuguese - all the time.
There was a time where I could sing the Greek song without knowing the meanings of the words. Let's not forget Romanian (where the singer was depressed or something), Hungarian, Polish (but I did not like the voices), Hebrew (I liked their own adaptation of the intro), Bulgarian and Italian.
The multilanguage videos of the intro were the videos of it that I liked, plus I started to watch episodes in other languages (because DC PT did not have the English audio track back then).
I also showed it to my mother (and she liked it back then) and impressed my school friends, which then started to take this to the next level with stupid pranks (Phineas is at school! Come quick!).
By the middle of the year, I began noticing that the songs had educational content. Nevertheless, I was still a fan of it.
Another animated series that I started to like was Fish Hooks. Still one of my personal favorites but not successful in many countries that aired it. We haven't seen the third season yet, and that includes the Friend Hooks episode where they are humans (come on, why can't they be merpeople?) and the final episode where they leave Freshwater High.
Then season 3 came and with that, a huge delay. Having seen some of the episodes on the internet (that was shortly before PnF episodes had to be removed from YouTube due to copyright issues), it took me a long while before we could finally see those episodes on an actual television. To add insult to injury, a Portuguese magazine (TV7 Dias) once had a picture from the episode about Phineas's birthday - in May 2011, and Portuguese viewers got to see the episode five months later.
They initially changed the evil jingle to crap singers, but reverted back shortly afterwards, don't judge me.
But before that, there was the movie. I did not like it, in fact the idea was very painstainkingly bad.
It was also at this point of time where I started to look at fanart of this show on DeviantART (and picturing him as a merman was a first shock). And I once drew Perry without his beak.
I still liked the show here and there, but I slowly started to stop following the show as every new episode came out.
Then, in 2013, a magazine came. I did not take a peek of it because it was one of those magazines aimed at younger children that have toys next to them as an offer. I also started to watch PnF in English on an actual television. That was when DC PT added an English audio track.
But, at this time, my interest in Phineas and Ferb seemed to die out. Part of it is thanks to the "glorious" treatment Fish Hooks had over here, but it was also thanks to the Violetta virus. Nevertheless, I still watched the show every now and then.
But then...
I almost switched off completely.
Gravity Falls was uninteresting to me but I only have an interest on Mermando, Wander Over Yonder is unwatchable because I have issues watching the Portuguese dub due to the constant captions, and now Phineas and Ferb... one of the greatest masterpieces back in the day... has decreased the quality of the dub because they felt like it, kicked up such a storm and forced the remaining Disney dubs to become perfunctory as PnF had become by then.
I decided to leave the fandom like most ex-fans.
And the show eventually was dead for me.
Anyway, Act Your Age is yet to transmit in Portugal, we'll have to wait longer to see the remaining episodes and probably wait a few more years to get Mikey Murphy's Law.
Also, no promotional images of the new show have appeared so far. Not sure if I'll test it.
Anyway, it was once the best show ever, but now it's a mere shadow of what it was. I'm going to give the final episode a go.

    1. To be honest, I'm kinda glad. Season 1 was great(had a few bad episodes, especially the season final) Season 2 was meh, some episodes stood out as good, most were so so. Season 3 was just a boring fest, 99% of the eps were boring and they just ran out of ideas, and those 'specials' are only a marketing tactic, really, all of them were just marketed as some big hype, and they all turned out lame. Season 4's regular episodes were a little better, but still no big improvment. The only good special was Where's Perry, the rest, no no.

Season 1 was great though, but the rest of the show is to be avoided(Season 2 is passable but it just wasn't as good, especially the latter episodes) I am in a way sad it's ending, but even people who still like the show admit it just needs to end already, they've ran out of ideas which made the series go rotten, the repetition isn't the problem, but it's that they've ran out of ideas.

    2. I did like parts of the third season, but eventually the show became more and more fragile.

    2. A mod PMed me he deleted my post because it contained only one word, I responded I don't really care because I was leaving the forum anyways, lmao!

If it says 'Banned' as my signature, i don't give a fuck at all really, I wasn't going to post there anyways because I just think it's a waste of my time, off topic posts everywhere, questionable organization of the mods(The International threads are a mess, double posting is treated like the worst crime while off topicing is common as fuck)and for example take a look at the nicktoons thread: 'PLZ BRING BACK ALL SHOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' with fantasy schedules that don't even fucking belong in the thread, SPAMMED OVER AND OVER

Well, I'm in contact with all the people I met there, so, they can stick it where the sun don't shine if they banned me.

    3. Still, you appear to be more welcome here than on Toonzone.

    4. As I said, don't care at all I was banned, I don't like the forum anyways. In fact, I'm happy that they banned me over such trivial thing, yet they can't stop Alex Jones!

I'm basically now on YT and vising a forum where free speech is much bigger and the rules aren't stupid and fair, and also mods control the forum properly, so off topicing is controlled and the place pretty much trains you so you don't off topic and stuff.

I'm still collecting footage and information about Jetix :)
